With production now underway on the new Halloween movie, Will Patton has joined the cast to play a police officer character who will likely have his hands full with Michael Myers once again on the loose.

The latest Halloween casting news (fittingly revealed on John Carpenter's 70th birthday) comes from The Tracking Board, who report that Patton will play a cop, although further details on his character are unknown. Patton, who has accrued an impressive list of credits in over four decades of acting, is no stranger to playing law enforcement characters, having recently portrayed Sheriff Daniel Platt on the series Shots Fired (see above photo).

As previously announced on the official Halloween franchise website, Ginny Gardner, Miles Robbins, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid have joined the cast of the new Halloween movie to play the friends of Allyson (Andi Matichak).

Allyson is presumably the daughter of Karen Strode (Judy Greer) and granddaughter of Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, who is returning to the franchise for one final showdown with Michael Myers.

Bloody Disgusting recently reported that filmmaker and actor Nick Castle, who played the masked version of Michael Myers in John Carpenter's Halloween, will reprise his role as Michael Myers in the new Halloween movie, with James Jude Courtney also cast in the iconic role.

Slated for an October 19th, 2018 release from Universal Pictures, the new Halloween movie is directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay he wrote with Danny McBride. Master of Horror John Carpenter executive produces and is expected to compose the score for the latest entry in the Halloween franchise. We'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are revealed.

Previous Press Release: "Universal Pictures will release Trancas International Films, Blumhouse Productions and Miramax’s HALLOWEEN on Friday, October 19, 2018.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Master of horror John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.

HALLOWEEN will be produced by Malek Akkad, whose Trancas International Films has produced the HALLOWEEN series since its inception. Green and McBride will executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.

HALLOWEEN will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures."
