Happy Women in Horror Month, dear readers! With today being the official start to February, that means it's once again time to show a little extra love to all the female genre filmmakers who have helped shape the landscape of horror cinema over the years, and also keep the spotlight on all the current women directors out there hustling and working hard to bring us fans great genre stories that we can continue to enjoy for years to come.

So, in an effort to help you find some great horror and sci-fi movies directed by female directors that are currently streaming, I put together this list of 45 different movies that are available on a variety of digital streaming platforms, including Shudder, Netflix Instant, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Vudu, and Tubi TV. Also, it’s worth mentioning that as of today, The Matrix Trilogy from The Wachowskis has just hit Amazon Prime once again, so if you’ve been meaning to revisit those films, now is a great time to do so.

Dr. Louis Creed's family moves into the country house of their dreams and discover a pet cemetery at the back of their property. The cursed burial ground deep in the woods brings the dead back to life, with "minor" problems. Based on a Stephen King novel.

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (Directed by Ana Lily Amirpour)

The first Iranian Vampire Western, Ana Lily Amirpour's debut feature basks in the sheer pleasure of pulp. A joyful mash-up of genre, archetype and iconography, its prolific influences span spaghetti westerns, graphic novels, horror films, and the Iranian New Wave.

Stripped to Kill (Directed by Katt Shea)

When Detective Cody Sheehan discovers the body of a stripper from the Rock Bottom dance club, she wants the case. Her partner, Detective Heineman, is equally anxious to make the jump to the prestigious homicide division, but the only way Cody can get the assignment is to go undercover - uncovered - at the club.

The Devil’s Doorway (Directed by Aislinn Clarke)

In 1960, two priests are sent to investigate a miracle in an Irish home for unwed mothers only to discover that one of the residents is possessed by the devil.

Jen (fearlessly embodied by Matilda Lutz) is enjoying a romantic getaway with her wealthy boyfriend, which is suddenly disrupted when his sleazy friends arrive for an unannounced hunting trip. Tension mounts in the house until the situation abruptly––and viciously––intensifies, culminating in a shocking act that leaves Jen left for dead. Unfortunately for her assailants, Jen survives and reemerges with a relentless, wrathful intent: revenge.

On a prom-night dare, a trio of high-school friends chant an incantation, unleashing an evil spirit from the past with deadly consequences. Once rescued, their tormentors receive their just desserts, dying one by one in a chain reaction of gruesome murders, each with a bizarre "Urban Legend" twist.

Honeymoon (Directed by Leigh Janiak)

Young newlyweds Paul (Harry Treadaway) and Bea (Rose Leslie) travel to a remote lake cottage for their honeymoon, where the promise of private romance awaits them. Shortly after arriving, Paul finds Bea wandering and disoriented in the middle of the night. As she becomes more distant and her behavior increasingly peculiar, Paul begins to suspect something more sinister than sleepwalking took place in the woods.

After a horrific car accident, Anna wakes up to find the funeral director Eliot Deacon preparing her body for her funeral. Eliot convinces her he has the ability to communicate with the dead and is the only one who can help her. See No Evil 2 (Directed by Jen & Sylvia Soska)

A group of friends pays visit to the city morgue to surprise Amy (Danielle Harris) on her birthday. But the surprise is on them when the one-eyed corpse of brutal psychopath Jacob Goodnight (WWE superstar "Kane") unexpectedly rises from a cold sub- basement slab. Their party quickly turns into a terrifying slay-fest as the sadistic murderer resumes his rampage complete with hooks, surgical knives and power saws in this blood-soaked sequel to SEE NO EVIL, directed by the notorious Soska sisters.
