Chloe Moretz to Star in Zombie Movie “Maggie”?

Early in 2011, we reported that Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) was looking to purchase the screenplay for Maggie, a much talked about zombie story that involves a family whose daughter has a slow working infection. That deal ended up falling through, but a recent report reveals that the project is once again moving forward.

Variety reported that Chloe Moretz is currently in talks to star in Maggie with Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz) in negotiations to play her father. This would be the first feature film for commercial director Henry Hobson, who will be making this movie for Inferno Entertainment. It is said that the project will be produced for around $10 million.

Here is a previously released description of the original script: “Maggie is a 16-year old girl from a town in middle America who becomes infected by a zombie. Much the way that Danny Boyle changed the lumbering zombie stereotype by speeding up the undead in 28 Days Later, Maggie changes the lightning quick infection period evident in most zombie films, where victims become zombies in minutes. It will take six months for Maggie to turn, and the film tracks the transformation as she stays with her family.”
