We recently learned that Stuart Gordon would be directing a cannibal-themed stage production titled Taste, but he also has plans to turn it into a full-length feature film. According to a new report from Variety, the film will shoot late next year after the first run of the stageplay and will include the same cast.

Taste is written by Benjamin Brand and is said to be based on the true story of Armin Meiwes. Referred to as the Rotenburg Cannibal,  he "achieved international notoriety for killing and eating a voluntary victim whom he had found via the Internet." This project will be a microbudget production and there is no casting information at this time.

Stuart Gordon had a successful run with Re-Animator: The Musical and talked about trying to horrify audiences onstage with his latest production:  "It's rare that real horror is done onstage... Re-Animator' the musical is more comedic than scary. But 'Taste' may cause people to actually pass out or lose their lunch in the theater."
