American Horror Story: Asylum may have just wrapped recently, but work on a third season started right away. It has already been revealed that Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters are on board, with Season 1′s Taissa Farmiga is in talks to return. The latest news is that Lily Rabe will return as well.
Lily Rabe's Sister Mary Eunice was a big part of the second season and arguably one of the more interesting storylines in Asylum. At this time, we have no idea if she'll be a major or minor part of Season 3, but Ryan Murphy confirmed her return on his Twitter account: "So thrilled to announce Lily Rabe is onboard for American Horror Story Season Three! So talented, love her!"
There will be plenty of details revealed over the coming months, but here’s what Murphy previously had to say about the direction the new season will be taking:
“I mean, I don’t think anything could ever be as dark as the mental health care system in our country. I sorta feel like for the third version I want to do something that’s a little bit more “evil glamour.” Just something that’s a little bit more…one of the things that I missed this season was I really loved having that Romeo & Juliet youth story with Violet and Tate. I want something like that again and we’re doing something like that in the third season. And we’re contemplating shooting the show in a different place. We’re contemplating shooting it in a place in the country where true horror has been. We’ve got lots of delicious plans.”
