Just as intriguing as the Xenomorphs in some of the previous Alien films are the people that encounter them. The group in Ridley Scott's upcoming Alien: Covenant still has plenty of open slots, but some seats on what could be a wild ride have been taken, with Demián Bichir the latest person to climb aboard the project.
Variety (via Deadline) reports that Bichir has been set to join the cast of Alien: Covenant in an unknown role. A follow-up film to the Alien prequel, Prometheus, Alien: Covenant will feature Michael Fassbender reprising his role as the android David and will also star Katherine Waterston (Steve Jobs). Danny McBride (Pineapple Express, Eastbound & Down) is also in talks for a co-starring role.
Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in 2011's A Better Life, Bichir recently co-starred as Bob in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight and is known for his appearances in many TV series and movies, including The Bridge, Weeds, No News From God, Savages, and Machete Kills, to name a few.
Alien: Covenant is scheduled to hit theaters on October 6th, 2017 from Fox. We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are revealed.
Alien: Covenant synopsis: “Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”
