NBC officially moved forward on a new Hannibal TV series in February and we have now our first casting news. As confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Hugh Dancy (The Big C/Black Hawk Down) has been cast as FBI agent Will Graham.

The series will be based on a Red Dragon-era Hannibal Lecter and is described as an "hourlong contemporary thriller featuring characters from Harris’ best-seller and revolves around FBI agent Will Graham and his mentor, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who are reintroduced as the beginning of their budding relationship.”

The series has been created by Bryan Fuller, who is also working on The Munsters reboot for NBC. As opposed to the usual pilot-to-series process, NBC has given Hannibal a full 13-episode first season order. Keep an eye out for more Hannibal casting news in the coming weeks.
