Season 2 of Stranger Things will introduce viewers to some new faces in Hawkins, Indiana, as it has been announced that Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, and Linnea Berthelsen have joined the second season's cast.

The news of the trio's casting comes from EW, who revealed that Astin will "play Bob Newby, 'a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.'"

Reiser, meanwhile, will play "Dr. Owens, 'a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.'"

And finally, Roman will portray Berthelsen, "“an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…”

The casting of Astin (The Goonies) and Reiser (Aliens) are nice nods to the show's 1980s setting and inspirations, and Berthelsen's Roman certainly could play a key role in the series stepping beyond Hawkins' town limits in season 2.

Stranger Things Season 2, which recently began production, will premiere on Netflix in 2017. What do you think of the new cast announcements? Let us know in the comments section below, and stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details.
