Some pretty shocking news has been revealed by Deadline Hollywood (and we also have confirmation at other sources). According to reports, Frank Darabont is stepping down as showrunner of The Walking Dead TV series:

"There is speculation that Darabont might be off the show completely, but I hear talks are still ongoing about him possibly staying on in some capacity. Darabont, who shepherded the zombie saga to the small screen and wrote and directed the AMC pilot, hails from the feature world, and I hear that he never quite adjusted to the daily grind of producing a TV series."

The second season is still in the middle of filming, so we aren't sure about how this will affect production or who will come in to replace him. This news is surprising considering his recent appearance last week at Comic-Con and no mention of upcoming creative changes during The Walking Dead panel.  Unfortunately, we don't have any other specifics, but we expect some kind of official response in the near future and will keep readers updated.
