Weekend Box Office Update

It was a close race over the holiday, but Catching Fire remained on top this weekend, earning $74.5 million. To date, The Hunger Games sequel has earned $296 million in the US and a total of $573 million worldwide. Frozen took second place over the weekend with an estimated $66.7  million and has earned a total of $93 million since opening earlier in the week.

Thor: The Dark World managed to hold onto third place, while The Best Man Holiday continued to see solid ticket sales and took fourth place. Absent from the top ten is the Oldboy remake, which only placed 17th this weekend. Since opening on Wednesday, the movie has only earned $1.2 million and played on 583 screens in the US.

Next week is likely to be a bit slow at the box office, as no major releases are scheduled to open on Friday, December 6th. Here are the top ten results for this weekend:
