With production underway on the second season of Stranger Things, and with fans eagerly awaiting their return to Hawkins, actor David Harbour has shed some much-desired light on what's to come when the Netflix show returns later this year.

At a Stranger Things panel with the cast and crew on the Fan2Sea cruise earlier this month, Hollywood Life was on hand when actor David Harbour discussed the role of Sean Astin in the second season:

“We have Sean Astin… he’s Winona’s new boyfriend — much to the chagrin to the Chief of Police."

Astin's romantic link to Joyce adds to the previously revealed background of his character Bob Newby, whom EW reported as being "a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack."

Harbour also discussed the timeline of season 2, revealing how much time has gone by since the eerie events of season 1 came to a close:

“It’s a year later in the story, so there are several things that happened last year—like, Will has come back—there are certain people in the town that know what happened, and then certain people that don’t know what happened."

Harbour went on to mention that in season 2, Barb is sorely missed by Nancy, who feels like everyone forget about the tragic death of her best friend. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details, and in case you missed it, catch up on our previous coverage of the ’80s-set series:
