Frankenstein's Army is currently filming and we now know who's playing the mad scientist that will bring the army to life.

According to Variety, Karel Roden (Pictured Below- Hellboy, The Bourne Supremacy) will be playing German mad scientist Viktor. The previously released synopsis mentions the Germans found Frankenstein's journal, so we're not yet sure if Roden will be playing him in flashbacks or if he's a relative of the original Frankenstein.

MPI/Dark Sky Films, who brought us Hatchet II, Stake Land, and The Innkeepers, is producing the film. Dutch filmmaker Richard Raaphorst (Worst Case Scenario) is directing the movie, which was inspired by vintage newsreel footage:

“Toward the end of World War II, Russian soldiers pushing into eastern Germany stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary Frankenstein’s work to assemble an army of supersoldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades – a desperate Hitler’s last ghastly ploy to escape defeat.”
