The big world of AMC's The Walking Dead is brimming with the living dead and dotted with the campfires of spread out survivors. In addition to the adventures of Rick Grimes and company, there are a lot of stories to tell, and AMC will bring a new group's journey to the small screen, as The Walking Dead companion series has officially been ordered to series, with two seasons confirmed and the first photo revealed.
"You well know that I am not combat ready or even, for that matter, combat inclined." AMC's The Walking Dead met The Twilight Zone in last night's episode, when Rick and the group attended something very bizarre and out-of-place in the zombie apocalypse: a cocktail party. Not everyone was in attendance at the get-together, but the absent faces are featured in "Spend", next week's episode that's teased in a new clip in which Tara and Eugene discuss pulling weight, cowardice, and being "combat ready."
"Confrontation" looks to be a perfect title for The Walking Dead #138, as a number of conflicts that have been brewing since the start of A New Beginning are reaching their breaking point. If the cover and newly released preview panels are any indication, there's going to be trouble for the Hilltop mutineers and we're going to get a better look at The Whisperers.
Even though Rick and the group are now sleeping within the walls of Alexandria, their survival skills continue to stay sharp as they kill walkers encountered on their trips out of town. Splitting time between the woods and the newfound sunny slice of suburbia, the latest episode of AMC's The Walking Dead featured intense emotional and physical moments, but as always, the behind-the-scenes photos from the set show the cast having a great time in between the macabre mayhem.
Want to hang out with The Walking Dead's Robert Kirkman and Steven Yeun in Las Vegas? Attendees of this year's NAB show in Las Vegas can get that opportunity in the Crave Cave next month. Also included in our latest horror round-up is a look at Netflix's global rights deal with A&E's The Returned and big casting news for The Autopsy of Jane Doe.
Not everything about the Alexandria Safe Zone is exactly "safe", but under the leadership of former U.S. congresswoman Deanna Monroe, residents like the charming Jessie have been able to live out a reasonably normal existence in the zombie apocalypse on AMC's The Walking Dead. Two intriguing additions to the show, the characters of Deanna and Jessie have roots in the comic books and should affect events of future episodes in major ways. In recent interviews, Tovah Feldshuh and Alexandra Breckenridge discussed their respective characters' backstories, current states, and what could be in store for their walled-off community in the near future. *Spoiler warning for those who haven't yet seen the latest episode of The Walking Dead.*
They've done what they've had to do to survive on AMC's The Walking Dead, brining hope and despair to palpable life on the small screen with gritty realism every week. Covered in grime, splattered in blood, and trudging down the sun-baked backroads and brush-bordered trails this season, the stellar cast and crew of The Walking Dead have paid their dues and then some, and now they're getting a tip of the cap in return with seven nominations for the 41st Annual Saturn Awards.
Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Emily Kinney, Melissa McBride, Chandler Riggs, and Andrew J. West have all earned nominations, with the TV series itself receiving one as well. Also recognized in this year's nominations is Scream Factory's Nightbreed: The Director's Cut Blu-ray, NBC's Hannibal TV series, Only Lovers Left Alive, and many more.
As relentless as the living dead can be, humans are still more dangerous in the world of The Walking Dead. That belief is mirrored in Skybound's new edition of The Walking Dead #1 that will be available to Wizard World Raleigh attendees later this month. The cover features new artwork from Billy Dogma creator Dean Haspiel and showcases a familiar face for fans of both the comic book series and the TV show, though what's thrust in front of him is something only the former may recognize.
Since the summer of 2010, The Walking Dead 'Cast has been the go-to podcast about AMC's The Walking Dead, but in addition to following the apocalyptic adventures of Rick Grimes and friends, they also cover other aspects of the horror genre and Episode 168 was no exception. Titled "One, Two, Freddy's Coming For You", Episode 168 sees the team hosting a Walker Stalker Con panel with the legendary Robert Englund, who discussed behind-the-scenes moments on the A Nightmare on Elm Street movies, how his audition for Apocalypse Now led to Mark Hamill trying out for Star Wars, and much more.
Imagine the carnage captured by Google Maps street view shots in a zombie apocalypse: dilapidated buildings, blood-stained sidewalks, shaggy lawns and millions of zombies. But as the Alexandria Safe Zone community on The Walking Dead proves, some neighborhoods would still resemble the pre-dystopian days of sunny suburbia. If, like Rick and company, you're intrigued by (and maybe a little suspicious of) Alexandria and want to explore it thoroughly, you can now do so thanks to the folks at AMC, who have released an online, 360-degree virtual tour of the safe haven.
In addition to being depicted in black and white on the paneled page, the comic book version of The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes has some other key differences in appearance compared to his TV counterpart (though there are plenty of similarities, too), all of which are captured in Diamond Select Toys' new Rick Grimes vinyl bust bank that comes out this summer. Also due out when flowers are in full bloom and snow is a distant memory are four new Universal Monsters action figures, a zombified Sabretooth from the Marvel Zombies comic book series, a Godzilla vinyl bank mirroring the radioactive reptile's look in 1974's Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, and the return of the popular Plants Vs. Zombie Garden Warfare figures line, complete with more wacky weaponry.
It wasn't the homecoming Rick and Carl might have hoped for. Coming back to King County, Georgia, along with Michonne, the father and son were reminded of what life was once like pre-apocalypse, and as bittersweet as those memories were, they couldn't compare to the living, breathing blast from the past: a grieving, crazed Morgan.
The twelfth episode of season three, "Clear" ranks as one of the most poignant and powerful entries in AMC's The Walking Dead, featuring a moving performance by Lennie James and an eerie ghost town atmosphere. The booby-trapped main street made for a particularly memorable set, and now you can actually live where those walkers were once speared, as nine buildings in downtown Grantville, Georgia, which served as the filming location for the "Clear" episode of season three, are now for sale on eBay.
Transferred from the walker-ridden wild to the surreal suburban normalcy of the Alexandria Safe-Zone, a clean-shaven Rick Grimes and his eclectic family are slowly getting reacquainted with civilization, enjoying luxuries like indoor plumbing but also finding the sheer shock of their new digs overwhelming at times. Their roles in Deanna's walled-in community are explored further in "Forget", next week's installment of AMC's The Walking Dead, and we have photos and a preview video from the upcoming episode, the latter offering a little insight into Alexandria citizen Olivia.
Rick, Carl, Michonne, Daryl, and the rest of the group may have found a moment of peace within the walls of the Alexandria Safe Zone, but fans of AMC's The Walking Dead know that with the season finale just five episodes away, there will likely be plenty of walker and human-fueled mayhem before this season takes its bow (especially with the fiendish folks who destroyed Noah's hometown still on the prowl). No matter what happens in this season's finale, though, it's just been guaranteed that there will be a little more to enjoy, as the final season five episode's runtime has officially been extended to 90 minutes.
It could be the dawn of a new era for Rick Grimes and the group after the events of last night's The Walking Dead, but only time will tell whether or not they can truly sink into safety and stop looking over their shoulders. Offering a tease of what's to come in next week's Greg Nicotero-directed episode, "Remember", a new video shows Carl inspecting a potential threat in a scene that's somewhat reminiscent of Ben's upstairs investigation in George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead.
